Application for Blue Ridge Transportation, Llc

Blue Ridge Transportation is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Professional Freight Driver to move freight throughout our Appalachian service region and beyond as operational needs require. Our drivers are more than operators of commercial vehicles—they are representatives of our company and the communities we serve. Professional Freight Drivers are responsible for safely transporting freight, completing required inspections and transportation documentation, communicating with dispatch and customers, protecting cargo, maintaining professional equipment standards, and complying with applicable company, DOT, and FMCSA safety requirements. We expect every driver to demonstrate sound judgment, reliability, honesty, professionalism, and respect.

This position requires a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) appropriate for the equipment assigned, a satisfactory driving record, and the ability to meet applicable DOT and FMCSA driver-qualification requirements. Drivers must maintain a current DOT medical certification when required and successfully complete required pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing. Within six (6) months of employment, the driver must obtain and maintain a Hazardous Materials (HazMat) endorsement and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC®) unless already held at the time of hire. Continued employment may be contingent upon successfully obtaining and maintaining required credentials. Drivers are also responsible for vehicle inspections, accurate records, hours-of-service compliance, proper cargo securement, and promptly reporting safety, equipment, cargo, or compliance concerns.

At Blue Ridge Transportation, fair opportunity, accountability, and respect for people are part of how we do business. We believe people should be considered for what they can contribute today, not defined solely by where they have been. A criminal record does not automatically prevent someone from being considered for employment with us, and qualified applicants with criminal histories are encouraged to apply. When permitted by law and consistent with regulatory, safety, insurance, credentialing, and customer requirements, we consider an applicant’s circumstances individually, including the nature and relevance of the record, the time that has passed, and evidence of rehabilitation, growth, and positive change.

Honesty is essential to that approach. We understand that people have complicated histories, and we are willing to have respectful conversations about them. We ask applicants to be truthful when information is requested during the hiring process rather than assuming a past mistake automatically closes the door to employment. In return, we commit to approaching those conversations with fairness, discretion, dignity, and an open mind. Accountability matters to us, but so do growth and the opportunity to move forward.

We believe transportation should strengthen communities, create economic opportunity, and help move Appalachia forward. Every employee is expected to treat customers, coworkers, shippers, receivers, contractors, and members of the public with dignity and respect regardless of background, identity, ability, experience, or walk of life. Violence, threats, harassment, intimidation, discrimination, bullying, hate, and abusive behavior have no place at Blue Ridge Transportation. Our drivers must be prepared to work respectfully with people whose lives and experiences may be different from their own and contribute to a workplace where people feel safe, welcomed, and valued.

Our culture is built around a simple standard: Take care of people. Respect every community. Protect one another. Move Appalachia forward. Behind every shipment is a customer, business, family, or community depending on us. We are building a transportation company where safety and professionalism exist alongside fairness, accountability, opportunity, belonging, and genuine care for people. We want Professional Freight Drivers who share those values and understand that how we treat people matters just as much as how well we move freight.

Local Roots. Regional Reach. Moving What Matters.
